POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision local R&D Manager, the incumbent is responsible for developing innovative food products and improving existing ones while ensuring product safety, product quality and cost efficiency. Also working closely with cross functional teams and in collaboration with regional and global R&D team members.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop products by generating innovative ideas and concepts for new products or products enhancements as outlined in Technical Enquiry Forms for innovation projects and Cloud for Customer.
- Create prototypes and conduct testing to validate product designs and functionalities.
- Conduct cost analyses to determine the viability and profitability of new products.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to source raw materials that meet quality standards and cost targets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements throughout the product development process.
- Communicate and coordinate with Related Departments to achieve targeted goals.
- Monitor product development timelines; maintain up to date the status of each project, budgets, and quality standards.
- Maintain SOP’s, formulations and supporting records and documentation organized.
- Create labels and specifications following applicable Canadian and/or US regulations.
- Research, evaluate and test new ingredients and current ingredients alternatives.
- Maintain laboratory, equipment, and materials clean and organized.
- Provide support and backup for other R&D tasks as necessary.
- Assist with BSA WIBERG and Novataste regional and global integration projects Oversee daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring production targets are met.
- Participate and assist with Marketing and Sales activities, such as Supplier’s trade shows, and visits to customers.
- Other role related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-Secondary Education in Food Science, Biology, Nutrition, or related field.
- 1 – 5 years of experience in product development or similar role in the food industry.
- Experience in meat and snack sectors is an asset.
- Knowledge of Canadian and US Food Regulations is an asset.
- Comfortable using IT platforms like CRM or SAP. Proficient in the use of MS Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
